LOCATION
What is there more kindly than the feeling between host and guest? (Aeschylus)

Seashore villa is located in the area of Agios Spyridon. Named after the patron saint of Corfu, Agios Spiridon is on the north end of the island, roughly 40km (or 50 minutes drive) from Corfu town, the airport and the main port.
The northern part of the island offers a balanced mix of the luscious green scenery that is typical of Corfu, a variety of beaches and accessibility to the amenities of local resort-villages. The nearest beach for swimming is Ag. Spyridon only 900m or a 5 minutes drive away. Tavernas and restaurants are available locally, with the nearest one only 600m away from the villa. Acharavi is the closest village, located 5km to the west, while Sidari is a further 12km away. Both offer a large selection of shops, bars and restaurants, while in Sidari one finds the famous Canal d’ Amour, a picturesque beach of sedimentary rock. To the southeast of the villa the traditional fishing harbour of Kassiopi offers a more laid-back option after a 7km drive along the coast.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Immersed in an olive grove and overlooking the sea, the villa can be an ideal base for hiking or trekking explorations of the surrounding landscape. An ideal destination for such an escapade is the nearby island, Nissos, that separates the beach of Agios Spyridon from that of Almyros and is formed by thin strips of water connecting the sea to lake Antinioti. On the island, which can be accessed by two small bridges, on the east and west edges, an old  post-Byzantine monastery dating from the 17th century is also worth taking a look at. If one is more inclined towards cycling rather than trekking, bicycles can be provided on request. As a matter of fact, cycling can be an ideal way of exploring the area and accessing nearby beaches.

  • Another attraction in the area are the Roman baths in Acharavi which are open to the public. The baths were probably part of a large Roman building complex in NW Corfu. The monument was destroyed during the construction of a road and the preserved section was discovered in private land in 1985, during the opening of a foundation pit for the erection of a modern house. The preserved part of the building includes the hypocaust and the channel that carried water in the baths. Additionally, a visit to the folk-art museum of Acharavi can offer better insight into the past life and crafts of the north of Corfu.

  • For an excursion to a higher altitude, the nearby village of Old Perithia is ideal. A now abandoned settlement high up the slope of mount Pantokrator, is offers stunning views on the drive up, a breathtaking scenery of northern Corfu viewed from above, and traditional taverns to rest and feast once you reach the village.

  • For this or other longer excursions around the island, car rental is available locally from DRIVE-CORFU.COM who can also provide car collection and drop-off at the airport upon arrival and departure.
